cook eat drink • Sauteed Mushrooms for Two

Rhett of RhettDidntGiveADamn, here with a delicious side dish recipe for two. I love mushrooms and this is by far, my favorite way to have them. It's a simple saute that uses only 7 ingredients but packs a ton of flavor! Usually, I make this in small batches because my family isn't as into the shrooms as I am. But don't be afraid to double or triple this recipe. It's always a hit with the fungi lovers so I'm happy to share it with you all. Isn't there something all together wonderful about the sharing of recipes?

Ingredients

1 Pound Button mushrooms
3 Tsp. Butter
3 Tablespoons minced Vidalia (or other sweet) Onion
1 Tsp. minced Garlic
1/4 Tsp. salt
1/4 Tsp. pepper
1/4 Cup Sherry

Simply melt the butter in a heavy pot over medium heat. Add in the mushrooms and garlic and heat just until you can smell the pungent aroma of the garlic releasing it's scent - don't burn! Add in the Sherry, salt, pepper and finally the mushrooms. Let the mixture cook for 20 minutes or until your shrooms have reduced in size by about half. Let cool and serve. These are wonderful as a "second day" dish - just microwave for a minute or so. There. Simple and delicious.

Get the Look • Dickie Greenleaf

                                                            The Talented Mr. Ripley 1999

Rhett again from RhettDidntGiveADamn, with the promised follow up to the Get the Look: Marge Sherwood. Marge has the 50's summer thing down pat, but so do the leading men in the film! In particular we're going to have a look at the fashion sense of Dickie Greenleaf. Say hello to light, summery and preppy.

Let's jump right in with a great striped polo shirt from CairoVintage:

Next we need some great white slacks and this vintage pair from semprevintage are perfectly cuffable!

How about a linen blazer to help your man dress it up for evening? I like this light blue jacket from hannahbe:

To tie up this look you need a great pair of light, comfy (and vintage) shoes. I love this pair from woodensleepers:

By now you've got to be channeling Dickie Greenleaf pretty heavy. But there's one last thing that could really turn this look out. Remember the ring? Sport this handmade option from jewelscurnow

Now you've got the inspiration you need to get decked out in cool summer vintage. So hey, grab your partner, dress one another up and take on the world ala Marge and Dickie.

xo,

Get The Look

Marge Sherwood of The Talented Mr. Ripley

Rhett here, from RhettDidntGiveADamn, with another great look that's easy to get: the laid back, 1950s summer style of Marge Sherwood (Gwyneth Paltrow) in  The Talented Mr. Ripley. Privileged, wealthy and carefree, Marge lives in seaside Italy, all wrapped up in the affections of fellow rich kid Dickie Greenleaf (Jude Law).

The two have exiled themselves to their own lazy, perfect paradise, until — Cue the lonesome and mysterious stranger, Tom Ripley (Matt Damon), who changes everything.

Do yourself a favor and see this movie if you haven't. The plot will have you biting your nails all the way through. And Marge's style — with her light, preppy top, vintage swimsuit, full skirt and espadrilles — will have you coveting her closet. So here's how to get it.

I love the cotton candy colors of this button up blouse from ShopReinvintage. The blouse is light and fun and with great lines and absolutely Marge! And don't forget to tie up the front shirttails.

Layer an authentic vintage bathing suit under your preppy top to really nail down this look. Try this bright yellow two piece by maefairvintage.

You'll need a great full skirt to laze about in. How about this one from CapriciousTraveler:

No look is complete without a nice pair of kicks. Take these sailor blue flats from willowknows for a walk.

Now that you've got some ideas, take this look and make it your own. Etsy has terrific vintage options for cotton blouses, bathing suits, full skirts and espadrilles. Find your perfect combo and channel your inner Marge Sherwood.

PS - Don't miss the next installment where we'll show you how to get the 50's summer look "For HIM".

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Sometimes it's hard to decide what to wear or how to decorate. This series aims to make it a bit easier! We'll show you how to dress like your favorite star from a movie, or how to make your home as posh as your favorite TV show setting. Or how to go boho chic or do your bungalow up like a Paris apartment.

And what better way to start this off than with the super chic look worn by the iconic Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's? Let's break this look down, shall we?

You must start with the classic Little Black Dress. This movie made a staple of the LBD and it continues to be as important today as it ever was. Check out this cute number by Lucia Verona:

Coming in at $95 dollars this classic dress is a must!

How about those oversized shades from the movie? Check out these from SunofaBeachEyewear:

Of course you need a classic black shoe for this look. Try these stiletto pumps from Vintage201:

Add a pair of opera length black satin gloves to take the look to the next level — and then consider the jewels. Audrey is blinged out in this movie —  think pearls and diamonds. For the earrings, consider a vintage option, like this one from moondogcottage:

And lastly, as the icing on a big, beautiful cake, why not make your very own chunky pearl and "diamond" necklace! Check out this great tutorial from PS I Made This. There's even a video version on Fashionista.

Now go and get your Audrey on.
